Gone are the days of sharp cutting instruments! We now live in a world where dentistry is a comfortable experience thanks in part to laser dentistry.

With laser dentistry, anaesthetic is not always necessary. There is also no drilling noise or vibration. Laser dentistry is so effective, it can, on occasion, take the place of root canal treatment.

  • Low pain treatment: - The LASER operates using very short pulses of energy. The pulses are so quick that the reaction threshold of nerves is not reached.
  • Germ-destroying effect: - The bacteria in your mouth vaporize instantly which results in maximum germ reduction.
  • Reduced procedure time and efficient operation with less trauma.
  • Minimally invasive and precise: Areas outside the laser beam are unaffected.

When it comes to laser surgery, you can be assured there will be less bleeding and swelling and a reduced need for stitches. Laser surgery promotes fast healing and many people report that after laser surgery they have little or no post surgical discomfort.

Lasers can be used for a wide range of dental procedures. At Pearl Dental Centre, laser dentistry practices are applied to the following specialist dental care areas:

  • Preventive Dentistry - healthy teeth maintenance at each stage in life.
  • Restorative Dentistry - tooth repair and replacement including crowns and dentures.
  • Cosmetic Dentistry - improving the appearance of teeth including laser whitening and veneers.
  • Oral Surgery - improving the functionality of the mouth and jaw including tooth removal and orthodontics.
  • Periodontal Dentistry - treatment of gum disease.
  • Mouth Health - the mouth and its effect on overall health including the treatment of sleeping disorders and bruxism (jaw grinding).

  • No Pain.
  • No Bleeding.

The most common cause of darker pigments in the gums is genetics. Excess melanin can build up in the gums, making them look brown or black instead of pink. This is more common in certain ethnic groups like people with African or Middle Eastern ancestry. The extra pigment does not indicate any disease or dysfunction.Patients seek treatment because of an aesthetic preference for pink gums that showcase their teeth better.

"Gummy smiles" are a very common problem, caused by overgrowth of the gum tissue, which covers the teeth.

This unsightly occurrence can be caused by a variety of things, including heredity, health conditions, and even the use of many common high blood pressure medications. A gummy smile will dominate the mouth, making the teeth seem almost secondary in appearance.
